The “Attune” knee prothesis was implemented in Serbia
In Atlas General Hospital surgical team of the orthopedic specialists led by dr Gordan Gavrilović today had preformed an operation of total knee endoprosthesis on patient that is 56 years old.
This is Johnson & Johnson knee prosthesis, and this model is called ATTUNE and this is the first time that this model of prosthesis has been implemented in Serbia and entire region.
Why patient is sent for the operation?
Patient asked for a help because he had knee deformity problems, constant swelling and pain, as well as limited mobility. All of this created him problems in everyday life. After examination that was performed by dr Gavrilović, patient is scheduled for surgery.
With this operation, team of doctors of Atlas General Hospital made correction of the the knee deformity, and aim is to get painless knee that would have full motion mobility withing range of endoprosthesis.
During whole operation of the knee, in agreement with anesthesiologist the patient conscious, he got spinal anesthesia, so he was able to communicate with surgeons during whole process; vital parameters were normal, whole operation was according to the plan, without any complication and loss of blood. Duration was 90 minutes.
What is recovery period after surgery?
It is planned that patient should be verticalized, or he should stand up, in the beginning with crutches and with partial support. The plan is that patient should have full support on the ground without crutches in two weeks which should be achieved with help of physical therapy.
