Ultrasound diagnostics
Ultrasound diagnostics is a safe non-invasive diagnostic technique which is used to see the internal body structures such as tendons, muscles, joints, vessels and internal, organs.
How is the procedure carried out?
Abdominal ultrasound
Abdominal ultrasound is used to examine the structure within abdomen: the liver, gallbladder,bile ducts, pancreas and spleen.
It is also possible to examine the urinary system:the kidneys,bladder, and prostate.
Ultrasound can detect stones in gallbladder,bile ducts and kidneys;it can monitor pregnancy and fetal development;it can detect cancerous abdominal changes ,gastrointestinal bleeding and fluid in the peritoneal cavity.
Breast ultrasound
Breast ultrasound is safe and efficient and it is used for diagnosing breast diseases.
Breast self-examination and breast ultrasound can always detect early pathological changes n the breasts, what is very important for successful treatment.The breast self-examination in women,who are in fertile period, should be performed 7 days after the menstrual cycle ends.
Children’s (Paediatric) hip ultrasound
This is one of the first examinations in newborns,in order to see if the hip joints are forming normally or whether DDH (Developmental dysplasia of the hip) is present.
The first children’s ultrasound examination should be carried 6 months after a baby was born, in order to check if the ball and socket of the hip joint form normally.
This examination enables early detection of Developmental dysplasia of the hip and its adequate treatment.
Children’s hip ultrasound is important for detecting the following diseases:transitory synovitis,septic arthritis,juvenile arthritis,Legg-Calve Perthes disease.
Thyroid gland ultrasound
A thyroid gland ultrasound is used to examine the pathological changes in the thyroid gland.
Thyroid gland ultrasound together, with lab hormone analyses and endocrinology examination, is a safe method for detecting a disease and following the effects of the therapy.
