Atlas General Hospital within Atlas Physics offers all kinds of physical therapy services and more recently chiropractic and traction services (spinal traction). Our team is made of experienced experts in physical medicine as well as physical therapists who have treated a large number of patients so far.
THE ONLY NON-OPERATIVE TREATMENT THAT IS REALLY EFFECTIVE IN SERIOUS CASES OF DISCUS HERNIA, DEGENERATIVE DISEASES OF THE JOINTS, ARTHRITIS, STENOSIS AND PRESSURE ON NERVE ROOTS.
A technique of this type of healing by applying mechanical force, can increase the space between the vertebral bodies and between the surfaces of the apophyseal joints, widen the intervertebral openings and stretch the surrounding soft tissues. It gained legitimacy in the 1950s, although it has been mentioned since the time of Hippocrates.
Spinal decompression therapy
Spinal decompression therapy is an extremely successful non-surgical procedure for treating disc herniation, eliminating pain and other problems caused by spinal issues.
The decompression therapy gently stretches the spine, reducing pressure on the disks and joints, allowing for a natural healing process. The advantage of this therapy is that it is aimed at eliminating the cause of the problem, and very often it is a mechanical pressure in the structures of the spinal column.
Using a specific combination, proper body position and variable intensity of force, the main effect of therapy is achieved on a sophisticated table (Trinon DTS Chattanooga).
- decompression (reduction of pressure on nerve roots)
- improving circulation
- restoring the body function
- withdrawal of symptoms-pain and dysfunction
The therapeutic effect of traction
Traction can achieve: the separation of the surfaces of the apophyseal joints, reduction of disc protrusion, stretching of soft tissues, relaxation of the paravertebral musculature, mobilization of the joints.
The application technique is performed in the supine position, the patient is fully trained, whether the patient is lying on his stomach or on his back. The position of the spine at traction will depend on the pathology. During this physical treatment, the spine is stretched to relieve pressure from certain parts of the load bearing discs. This corrects the spine and improves the body’s ability to heal itself.
The traction phase itself lasts up to 15 minutes, and the patient feels comfortable all the time.
The traction force can be increased gradually . The treatment series lasts from 5 sessions and more depending on the symptoms and the degree of the problem itself. Physical modalities with relaxant and analgesic effects are used as an introduction to traction.
When traction can help
Indications for spinal traction:
- disc herniation and protrusion,
- facet syndrome,
- narrowing of the intervertebral openings,
- compression and irritation of the spinal nerve roots,
- paravertebral muscle spasm,
- pain after disc surgery,
- lumbar and cervical syndrome,
