Urology is a branch of medicine dealing with diseases of urinary organs (the kidney, ureters, bladder and urethra) as well as genital male organs (penis, testicles, epididymis and prostate).
Urinary tract infections, kidney stones and urinary tract stones, stress incontinency as well as prostate diseases (BHP – benign prostatic hyperplasia) are the most common urinary problems.
Although at the mention of the urologist we mostly think that he is exclusively a doctor for the male part of the population, that is not true. More than a third of patients are women. At Atlas Hospital, we deal with examinations, diagnostics, surgical and conservative treatment of diseases of the kidneys, urinary tract, prostate and genitals.
Unfortunately, malignant diseases of urogenital tract are not uncommon.
If the right diagnosis is established on time, unwanted consequences and complications can be prevented and treatment is more successful.
In the Atlas general hospital the following procedures and interventions can be carried out:
Examination by a urologist
Urologic interventions under local anaesthesia
Urologic and genital operations in children
In order to establish the right diagnosis the following should be done:
Complete urologic exmination( case history, rectal examination of the prostate, ultrasound examination, lab analyses, PSA – prostate specific antigen), fPSA, f/t and if necessary urine and blood count and biochemical analyses. All this is necessary in order to rule out cancer of the prostate in which Green laser is contraindicated.
If carcinoma of the prostate is suspected it is necessary to perform TRUS biopsy of the prostate ( ultrasound prostate biopsy).
-Specialist’s urological examination (objective findings, local status, rectal examination)
-ultrasound examination of kidneys, bladder and prostate
-ultrasound examination of testicles and ejaculatory duct
-transrectal ultrasound of small coccyx
-transrectal prostate biopsy
-biopsy of skin changes in urogenital region
-complete microbiological and labaratory examination
– testicle biopsy
– radical orchiectomy
– excision of changes on the skin of urogenital region
– condyloma electroresection
-surgery of penis curvature (Morbus Pyeroni)
-implanting penile prosthesis
-implanting testicular prosthesis
-transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TUR)
-surgery of vesicovaginal fistula
-surgery of benign prostate enlargement by using Green light laser
-laparascopic radical treatment of prostate cancer
-surgery of bladder prolapse
-surgery of uterus prolapse
-surgery of colon prolapse
-surgery of stress urinary incontinency
-surgery of male incontinency
-incontinency surgery by placing artificial urinary sphincter
- -Urinary incontinency
- -Prostate enlargement
- -Kidney tumors
- -Bladder tumors
- -Green Light laser therapy
